The Proposal
The Tuscaloosa City Schools wanted to develop a back-to-school campaign to promote positive feelings about the start of the new school year that was targeted at students, parents, and the community.
The Process
Research was done into effective means to successfully create an effective campaign utilizing social media channels and strategies that were currently in place in a wide-spread capacity and available to teachers, parents, students, and businesses and organizations within the community. Based on that research, a decision was made to use Instagram as a platform for distribution.
The Product
I created a social media campaign utilizing Instagram hashtags to disseminate messages of positivity in regard to going back to school (along with the option to extend the campaign throughout the school year) and also designed a system of rewards, outlined in the campaign brief, to encourage participation on each level – teachers, parents, students, and community. In addition to the brief, which includes a press release, sample posts were created to demonstrate the program along with other media – handouts, sharable graphics, a web-based video, and a website to advertise the campaign.
